Over the last few weeks, Roxy has been grinning more and more. I keep trying to catch those gems on camera, but it's hard. And it also leads to pictures of all sorts of crazy Roxy faces. Including a couple demon-eyed Roxys with the flash on. She was actually enjoying time with her Papa Tim - she just looks like a scary beast. Check them out.

For Roxy, getting unswaddled and then waking up seems to be a feat of heroism. She stretches, bends, twists, and just when things seem to be smoothing out, her body tells her she's falling and her arms fly out, starting the process all over again. And to top it all off, mean old mom just stands there with her iPhone, giggling until Roxy bursts into tears. Evil.
I hope this trauma of waking up isn't a portent of things to come...I see teenage drama.
We were fortunate enough to have Katie Neuman come over and take some photos of Roxy. Her work is amazing! Here are the results. We have never looked so good - thanks Katie!

Mom is an idiot and waited 5 weeks to get Roxy a mobile. Based on her initial reaction as seen in this video, she loves it and is wondering why she didn't have access to it weeks ago. Stupid mom.
For those of you living in 1991, the HOV lane is what you might call the "carpool" lane. High Occupancy Vehicles only. Knox and I were recently wondering, does it count if you just have a kid in the car with you? I mean, if they're under 16, it's not like they had an alternative option to going with you. Especially someone Roxy's age. I mean, what's she gonna do? Go cruising on her own in the civic? It seems sort of unfair that a kiddo would count as the second passenger. Not that I am complaining, it just seems weird.
Well, wonder no more. Others have pondered this same question before us. From the US Dept. of Transportation:
Do children and infants count as passengers?
Yes. All states with HOV facilities count children and infants as passengers.
Roxy hit the 1 month mark on August 12 - Friday. And boy did she have a big day! Here's the rundown:
Dr. appt. where we learned she is now over 8lbs! She started at 6lbs 11.8oz and at her lowest was 6lbs 4oz, so we are pretty psyched.
Photo shoot with the fabulous Katie Neuman. You can see some of the incredible photos on her blog here. I will post again with the whole set soon. I would HIGHLY recommend her for any photography you might need. She's great!
Trip to the new Denver Ikea. She was a champ - didn't wake up until the checkout line. And Mommy and Daddy filled the back of the car with new stuff.
Dinner out with Danny and Nicole. We went to Amato's Ale House - it was delish!
A beer on the patio at the Stingray Lounge. Yes, there was a baby in the bar.
Finally, here is a video of Roxy kicking to her out-of-tune monthday song. Also some monthday photos in the cool onesie from her Auntie Kim and Uncle Ben. Phew!

Our favorite morning routine is to head upstairs and listen to music and dance. Roxy loves being in the sunny room in her cradle rocking out to Pandora's Children's channel. And Mommy loves having her arms to herself for an hour.
Thinking it will be easier for folks to keep up with the firestorm of pics, videos and stories via a blog. Thanks to my sister Sarah for inspiring the idea via her blog, Whalephant.
I will add some posts soon to chronicle the last 3 weeks of Roxy's life to get us caught up. Next up, I try to use the Picasa app to upload photos direct to the blog. Woot!
